Food Pantry Emergency Assistance Grants
The Mountain View District is offering emergency grants to local churches with active food ministries or partnerships with community food pantries. Apply HERE.
From the District Superintendent:
Dear Pastor,
Many have told me in your clergy one on one survey that your church supports a food pantry or feeding ministry. As you know, the ongoing federal government shutdown is already affecting families across our communities. Several food pantries and feeding ministries have reported sharp increases in requests for help as SNAP and USDA benefits are delayed or reduced.
In response, the Mountain View District is working to make one-time emergency grants of $500–$1,000 available to local churches with active food ministries or partnerships with community food pantries. The amount awarded will depend on the number of applicants and the size of the program served.
If your church would like to apply, please complete the attached short application form (https://www.cognitoforms.com/VAUMC/MVDMicroGrantRequestForFoodMinistries) and by Friday, November 7. Be sure to include the correct name and mailing address of the ministry or church that should receive the funds, as any missing information will delay processing.
Note: We WILL ask for a report from the feeding ministry on approximately how many people were served from these funds, so we can report back to the District about the impact of this work by the end of the year.
Our goal is to move these funds quickly to the ministries already feeding our neighbors in need. Thank you for the faithful work you are doing every week to ensure that no one in our communities goes hungry.
Sarah
